Au Pair program: your year in the USA
If you’ve ever found yourself glued to TikTok, watching American life unfold and dreaming of experiencing it for yourself – the Au Pair in the USA program might just be your ticket in. This isn’t just a nanny job abroad — it’s your chance to live like a local, not a tourist, and fully dive into American culture.
As an au pair, you’ll live with a host family, help care for their children, and support them with some household tasks. In return, you’ll receive free housing, meals, weekly pocket money, and even the chance to take educational courses – many of which are partially or fully paid for. You’ll improve your English naturally: not through textbooks or tutors, but by chatting with a toddler explaining to you why the cat absolutely must live in the fridge. This is real-life language immersion – and it’s nowhere near boring.
You don’t need to be a student or have a university degree – a completed secondary education and a love for children are enough. To qualify, you’ll need at least 500 hours of verified childcare experience, plus an international driver’s license and at least 50 hours of driving experience. Both young women and men are welcome to apply, though it may be more difficult for male applicants to find a host family.
Alongside childcare, you’ll gain independence, international work experience, and a strong addition to your resume: participation in a U.S. cultural exchange program. You’ll also collect unforgettable memories, new friends from around the world, and Instagram stories that might spark a little FOMO back home.
Why would I do that

- Upon arrival in the USA, Au Pair should have at least $800 for personal expenses.

Requirements
- Participants aged 18–26 years;
- Being a student – not mandatory;
- Must not be married and have no children;
- Knowledge of English at least at the Intermediate level;
- Be ready to stay in the USA as an Au Pair for 12 months;
- Love children and have confirmed experience working with them (at least 500 hours);
- Driver’s license with regular driving experience (at least 50 hours) is mandatory;
- Must not smoke or quit smoking by the time of participation in the program;
- Must have completed secondary education, a higher pedagogical or philological education is a plus;
- Must not have a criminal past;
- Must be able to swim;
- Must have a sincere desire to live in an American family and learn the traditions and culture of another country.
Programs have fixed dates. Please check the start date of the selected program with the IEC coordinator. Program duration – from 1 week to 3 years, depending on the selected program. The documents should be submitted 4-6 months before the program start date.
