What level of English is required to participate in the program?

To participate in the program, the level of English should not be lower than Intermediate. Internship participants in Brazil must be able to communicate and understand English freely.

Is knowledge of Portuguese necessary to participate in the program?

This requirement is not mandatory, but it will be considered a significant advantage when searching for an internship.

Is it difficult to pass the interview on English language proficiency?

Absolutely not! During the language level check, the conversation is informal and on general topics — where you study, what subjects you are studying or have studied, why you want to go on the program, any hobbies, etc. The interview takes place with the program sponsor via Skype with the camera always on.

How to pay for the program?

After signing the contract, the IEC will charge an enrollment fee of $400 within 7 calendar days. The second part of the program cost is paid within 14 calendar days after the sponsor finds an internship placement and the participant confirms the offer.

What is the minimum duration of the program?

The internship period in Brazil has quite flexible terms from 1 month to 12 months. It all depends on the employer.

Where will I live during the internship program in Brazil?

If accommodation is not provided by the employer, the program sponsor is ready to help in finding housing. The cost of housing depends on the city of the internship and seasonality. The approximate cost ranges from $300 to $900 per month. More information about this service can be obtained from the IEC representative.

My friend and I are going together; can we work in the same city?

This option is possible, but the sponsor does not guarantee it. When applying, you will need to provide the name and surname of your friend who you want to travel with.

How much can I earn?

Internships can be either paid or unpaid, depending on the vacancy and employer. Possible stipends are around $200 per month. Some employers may cover transportation or meal expenses during working hours.

When can I fly to Brazil?

Only after obtaining the appropriate visa and coordinating the arrival date with the program sponsor in advance can you book a ticket to Brazil.

Can I change employers?

All documents will be issued to a specific employer, which cannot be changed. In case of any disagreements with the employer, participants of the exchange program must contact the sponsor — they will help find the best solution.
