What level of English is required to participate in the program?
To participate in the program, the level of English should not be lower than Intermediate. The program participant must be able to communicate and understand English during the internship.
What level of Spanish is required to participate in the program?
Mexico is a Spanish-speaking country, so if your level of Spanish is at least Intermediate, this is a huge advantage for you.
Is it difficult to pass the interview on English language proficiency?
It’s very simple! The interview takes place informally with the program sponsor via Skype. During which the sponsor checks the language level, previous experience, and the participant’s motivation for the internship. The ability to convincingly answer questions — where you study, what you study and/or have studied, why you want to go on the program — is the first step to successful enrollment in the program.
How to pay for the program?
After signing the contract, the IEC will charge an enrollment fee of $300 within 7 calendar days. The second part of the program cost is paid within 14 calendar days after the sponsor finds an internship placement and the participant confirms it.
What is the duration of the program?
The minimum duration of participation in the program is 3 months, and the maximum is up to 6 months.
Is accommodation provided during the program?
Yes, accommodation is usually provided by the employer in shared apartments with other participants. It all depends on the internship location and employer.
My friend and I are going together; can we work in the same city?
This option is possible, but the sponsor does not guarantee it. When applying, you will need to provide the name and surname of your friend you want to travel with.
When can I fly to Mexico?
Ticket purchases are only allowed after receiving an electronic entry permit for the country and coordinating the ticket dates with the program sponsor. Only after receiving written confirmation from the sponsor can the participant purchase the ticket.
Can I change employers?
All documents will be issued to a specific employer, which cannot be changed. In case of any disagreements with the employer, participants of the exchange program must contact the sponsor. Depending on the reason for the disagreement, an appropriate decision will be made.
