Au Pairs cannot choose the family or the city.

Au Pairs have 1-2 days off per week and 4 weeks (paid) vacation per year.

It varies individually for each family, but generally, program participants play with children, walk with them, help with homework, drive children to school and pick them up. They can cook for the kids and help the family with household chores. The schedule and responsibilities of the Au Pair are discussed and agreed upon with the family.
What children will Au Pair work with?
The age of the children usually corresponds to the work experience of the Au Pair.
Can I change families?
If for some reason the Au Pair program participant cannot get along with the family, they must first contact the program sponsor for advice. They will help resolve the situation, and if necessary, will try to find a new family. What should not be done is to suddenly leave the family without informing anyone about the situation!
Can I participate in the program if an Au Pair already has a host family in Germany?
Such an option is possible under certain conditions. More details about this procedure can be clarified with the IEC representative.
