What is volunteering?
Volunteering or volunteer work is socially useful work carried out voluntarily without expecting monetary compensation.
How much will I earn?
Volunteering is unpaid.
What language skills are necessary to participate in this program?
English and Spanish.
What level of Spanish is required to participate in the program?
It is necessary to speak Spanish at a conversational level.
What should I do if I speak Spanish poorly?
Participants in the volunteer program have the opportunity to take Spanish language courses in Costa Rica. A IEC representative will provide more details about the courses and their costs.
When to submit documents for the program?
The volunteer program in Costa Rica is year-round; documents must be submitted at least 2-3 months before the desired start date.
How to pay for the program?
After signing the contract, the IEC fee of $300 must be paid within 7 calendar days.
The second part of the program is paid after the participant’s full registration in the sponsor’s system.
Is it necessary to be a student to participate in the volunteer project?
No, we invite everyone who is 18 years old to participate in our volunteer program. Many projects do not require special knowledge or previous experience; however, you must have the ability to adapt to another culture and be ready to contribute to a good cause.
How many working hours will I have and will there be weekends?
On average, volunteers work 20-30 hours a week and have two days off per week.
Where will I live?
Volunteers usually live in a volunteer house in the city center or with families.
Can I participate in projects together with my friends?
Yes, of course. When applying for participation, you will need to provide the name and surname of your friend with whom you are going.
How long can I participate?
The minimum duration of the program is 2 weeks.
