The Work and Travel in Southeast Asia program invites you to explore new cultures, develop professional skills, and grow within the world of hospitality.
What level of English is required to participate in the program?
To participate in the program, the level of English must not be lower than Intermediate.
Is it difficult to pass an interview that tests your knowledge of English?
Easy! The interview is conducted in an informal format with the program sponsor via Skype. During it, the sponsor checks the participant’s language level, previous experience, and motivation for undertaking the internship. The ability to convincingly answer questions — where you study, what you are studying and/or studied, and why you want to go on the program — is the first step toward successful admission to the program.
How to pay for the program?
After signing the IEC agreement, the entrance fee in the amount of €300 is paid within 7 calendar days. The second part of the program cost is paid within 14 calendar days after, the sponsor finds a job offer and the participant confirms the offer.
What are the participation periods for the program?
The minimum duration of participation in the program is 3 months, and the maximum is up to 4 months. Depending on the job offer (job offer).
What positions are available for work in Asia?
In the kitchen, in food service, guest registration and service, administrative and maintenance work. Everything depends on the participant’s skills and experience. Participants with insufficient work experience or no experience cannot expect to receive a more qualified position (for example, a managerial position).
What is the work schedule?
You need to be prepared to work overtime. Working hours depend on the workplace and seasonality. Since the job is related to tourism and hospitality, participants may work up to 10 hours a day/5-6 days a week.
How can I find accommodation in Asia if my employer does not provide housing?
In this case, the program sponsor can assist with finding accommodation for an additional fee. The cost depends on the location, duration, and other accommodation conditions. However, the participant should be flexible regarding accommodation. For more information, including the cost of this service, you can inquire with an IEC representative.
My friend and I are going together, will we be able to work in the same city?
This option is available for small groups of up to 3 participants, but the sponsor does not guarantee it.
When registering, you will need to enter the first and last name of the friend you want to travel with.
When can I fly to Asia?
Purchase of tickets is only allowed after obtaining a visa and after preliminarily agreeing the ticket date with the program sponsor. Only after written confirmation from the sponsor may the participant purchase the ticket.
Can I change my employer?
All documents will be issued for a specific employer, which cannot be changed. In case of any disagreements with the employer, participants in the exchange program must contact the sponsor. Depending on the reason for the disagreement, an appropriate decision will be made.
