Au Pair in Spain: live and study in Spain
Spain is a sunny country with friendly and open people. By taking part in the Au pair in Spain exchange program, you will have a unique opportunity to get to know Spain from the inside. Au Pair participants in Spain look after children and do light housework. Spanish families also welcome it if the Au Pair helps their children improve their English. Therefore, in some cases it is possible to find a potential family that only speaks English. However, knowledge of Spanish at a beginner level is a significant advantage. A mandatory condition of the program is that participants must be enrolled in Spanish language courses, which they pay for themselves. This is because the main goal of the program is cultural exchange — to learn Spanish culture and to improve or learn Spanish from scratch. Au Pair usually work about 25-35 hours per week and receive pocket money of about €70-80 per week. A participant is entitled to at least one or even two days off per week. Use this time for travel, language study and getting to know the local culture. In the case of a long program of up to 1 year, the participant may be eligible for a 1- or 2-week vacation. Potential families live in Madrid and its suburbs.
