Au Pair in Spain: live and study in Spain

Spain is a sunny country with friendly, outgoing people. By joining the Au Pair in Spain exchange program, you’ll have a unique opportunity to experience Spain from the inside.

Au Pairs in Spain look after children and do light household chores. Spanish families also welcome help if you can improve their children’s English, so in some cases you may be placed with a family where English is enough. Still, basic Spanish is a significant advantage.

As a program requirement, participants must enroll in Spanish language courses and pay for them themselves — the program’s main goal is cultural exchange: to get to know Spanish culture and to improve or learn Spanish from scratch. Au Pairs usually work about 25–35 hours a week and receive a stipend of around €70–80 per week. You’re entitled to at least one, and sometimes even two, days off per week. Use that time to travel, study the language, and explore the local culture. For longer programs of up to one year, you may be eligible for a one- or two-week vacation. Potential host families live in Madrid and its suburbs.

These months of living and working in the United States have impressed me deeply. I live in a beautiful little house, and I can always go out to interact with the deer and squirrels on the road, an experience I have never had. The natural environment of the town I work is beautiful, there is no pollution, the weather is very blue, the air is too fresh!
