Camp in USA: about the country I'm going to

There are about 10,000 children’s camps in America where more than 7 million children spend their holidays each year. In other words, the USA is a true leader of the global camp movement. As a rule, all camps are located outside the city, in picturesque places — in the woods, on a river or a lake, or perhaps by the ocean.

There are different types of camps in the USA: sports, scout, private, family, camps for children with disabilities, and also religious camps. Some camps have children only from morning to evening, while others have them living there for the entire session. Children come to camp to relax and have fun, so you can always find everything for creative activities, crafts, sports, water activities, etc. Of course, the list, as they say, «activities» (activities) varies from camp to camp depending on its type, but the general idea is this: leisure time can be spent actively and usefully.

Campers usually live in wooden cabins. Counselors usually live in the same cabin with 8–12 children and 1–3 other program participants. Support Staff usually live in the same cabin with 2–5 other participants. In almost all camps there are computers and free internet access that can be used in free time.

This summer was the most fantastic of my life!.. I worked in Wisconsin, and then traveled across the country. Now I have so many interesting friends. I’m really happy! (I even flew a small plane and a speedboat myself!)

The camp was simply magnificent — both the staff and the children. And, despite the fact that I worked as support staff, I took part in a large number of activities with the children and the camp counselors. And best of all — I now have so many good friends from all over the world and so many great memories left!
