Is this a paid internship?
Yes, the internship is paid. The minimum wage starts at AUD 24 per hour.
What level of English is required to participate in the program?
To participate in the program, participants’ language level must be at least Upper Intermediate.
The participant must be able to communicate fluently in English on almost any topic.
Will it be necessary to provide a certificate confirming language proficiency?
Yes, IELTS or TOEFL.
How long does the internship last?
Formats of 6, 12, or 24 months are available — with the option to choose depending on your experience and goals.
Is it possible to work two jobs?
No, it is not possible. Visa 407 is issued for a specific employer and the internship specified in the documents. Working for another employer or taking a second job would violate the visa conditions.
Will someone meet me at the airport?
Participants will be met at the airport for an additional fee.
Will I have time to travel?
Yes, there will be. Participants are given 4 weeks to travel around Australia.
Is it possible to participate for less than 6 months?
No, participation for less than 6 months is not possible.
Can I participate if I don’t have an education in the hospitality field?
No. The Hospitality Internship program is only for people with education in the hotel or restaurant industry. If you don’t have it, our program — Professional Internship in Australia — will suit you.
Can I participate without work experience?
Unfortunately, no. Work experience is one of the sponsor’s requirements for the program. The program where work experience is not required — Professional Internship in Australia.
How to pay for the program?
After signing the IEC contract, the entrance fee of AUD $600 must be paid within 7 calendar days.
After confirmation of the internship placement, the participant makes the second payment for the program.
When can I apply?
You can apply at any time; the Hospitality Internship program is year-round. However, the visa application and position placement process may take 4-6 months — it’s better to start in advance.
And what about taxes?
The employer pays taxes on behalf of employees, which are deducted from their wages. These taxes can be refunded. Participants will need to fill out a tax refund form before leaving Australia.
Will I need to have an interview with the employer?
Yes, in most cases this is a mandatory step. After the sponsor selects a suitable vacancy, the employer may invite you to an online interview to get to know you better, discuss expectations, and make sure you are a good fit for the internship. This is a good opportunity to demonstrate your motivation and ask questions about the future internship placement.
How many hours per week will the internship involve?
Participants work at least 30 hours per week.
Do I need to arrange medical insurance?
Yes, insurance is mandatory. It is arranged as part of the visa preparation and covers basic medical expenses.
Where will I live while working?
The sponsor helps with finding accommodation. Participants have the option to live with a host family or in a student residence.
