EXCHANGE app: eSIM with internet, U.S. Phone Number, FluentGo and WAT Guide

The EXCHANGE Work&Travel Abroad app gives program participants access to useful tools for preparing for their trip to the U.S. and for the first days after arrival.

One of the main features is eSIM access directly in the app. It is a convenient alternative to buying a separate U.S. SIM card: you do not need to look for a physical SIM card after arrival, sign up for a separate mobile plan, or enter into an agreement with a mobile provider. You can get mobile data for the U.S., as well as an eSIM with a U.S. phone number for calls, directly in the app.

The app also gives you access to 1 GB of free mobile data for use in the U.S., FluentGo for practicing English and other foreign languages, and WAT Guide with useful information about life and work in the U.S.

1. How to download or update the app

Download or update the EXCHANGE Work&Travel Abroad app:

2. eSIM as an alternative to a separate U.S. SIM card

With eSIM in the app, you can use mobile data in the U.S. without buying a physical SIM card.

The app offers different eSIM options:

eSIM with mobile data for the U.S.;
eSIM with a U.S. phone number for calls;
eSIM with mobile data and calling minutes;
eSIM for use in many countries around the world.

This is especially convenient during your first days after arrival: you can stay connected, use maps and messengers, contact your coordinators, and take care of everyday needs more easily.

3. How to log in to your participant account

After opening the app:

1. Select English as your preferred language.
2. On the next screen, where you are asked to choose a messenger, tap Skip.
3. Tap Go to checkout.
4. Enter your citizenship, country, and city of residence.
5. Select and confirm your program option.

The price shown in the app at this stage is for illustrative purposes only and is provided as an example. The actual cost of your program is specified in your contract.

On the Registration screen, tap the Login link at the bottom. You do not need to fill out the form on this screen.

On the next screen, enter the same login details you used to register on the Exchange! portal and tap Login.

After logging in, you will be taken to your participant account.

4. How to get 1 GB of free mobile data

After logging in to your participant account, open the app menu using the button in the top left corner.

The eSIM section will become available in the menu.

To receive 1 GB of free mobile data for use in the U.S., tap Get free eSIM and follow the instructions in this section.

Important: Activate your eSIM only when you are ready to start using it. The validity period begins from the moment of activation.

5. What to do when your free 1 GB is used up

After using your free data package, you can purchase additional data directly in the app.

You can:

top up your current eSIM;
buy a new eSIM in the Get New eSIM section;
choose an eSIM with a U.S. phone number for calls;
choose an eSIM with mobile data and calling minutes;
choose an eSIM for use in many countries around the world.

6. Special eSIM rates

Starting April 25, 2026, special eSIM rates are available in the app for IEC participants, for example:

1 GB for 7 days — $2
5 GB for 30 days — $5.3
20 GB and 200 calling minutes for 30 days — $17.7

Prices and available packages may vary depending on the selected country, data amount, and eSIM validity period.

7. FluentGo: practice English and other languages

The app also gives you access to FluentGo — an online service with a voice AI assistant that helps you practice spoken English and other foreign languages.

This can be especially useful before speaking with employers, coordinators, and new people in the U.S.

A free package is available for participants.

How to log in to FluentGo

1. Open FluentGo through the app’s side menu: Menu → FluentGo.
2. Inside FluentGo, tap the menu icon in the top right corner.
3. Select Login from the list of available actions.
4. After tapping Login, you will be signed in using your existing Exchange! account — the same account used in the main app and on the Exchange! portal.
5. After a successful login, the Login button will change to Logout. The service features, such as Real Time and Voice Messages, will then become available.

When logging in, you may be asked to take an English placement test. If you are already enrolled in the program, you can use a temporary access code.

8. WAT Guide

The app also includes WAT Guide — a section with useful information about life, work, and adapting to the U.S.

There you will find:

tips on adaptation and safety;
information about your first steps after arrival;
useful materials about work, housing, opening a bank account, and other everyday matters;
checklists for before departure and after arrival.
