FAQ

Study English and Volunteer in London

The set is open

Volunteer and improve your English at the same time. London is waiting for you!

from £835
What English level do I need?

A minimum level of A2 (Elementary) is required to join the program. A higher level is recommended for the professional volunteering option, where you’ll be working in an office environment. All participants take a placement test before starting, so you’ll be placed in the group that suits you best.

Do I need a visa to volunteer in the UK?

Most participants travel to the UK on a standard Visit Visa (or visa-free, depending on nationality), which permits volunteering at a registered charity for up to 30 days over a 6-month stay.

Is accommodation included in the price?

Accommodation is not included in the base program fee, but it can be arranged at an additional cost. Options include a homestay with a host family (with meals), a student residence, or a shared apartment.

Can I work while on this program?

No. A Visit Visa allows volunteering with a registered charity, but does not permit paid employment or “voluntary work” (unpaid work that replaces a paid role).

Are there application deadlines?

The program runs year-round with new starts every Monday, so there are no fixed deadlines. That said, we recommend applying at least 4–6 weeks in advance to allow time for placement, documentation, and (if needed) visa processing.

How do I choose between the two program options?

If you want a flexible, community-focused experience with a variety of volunteer placements — go with the Taster Programme. If you’re looking to build specific professional skills, strengthen your CV, and combine volunteering with a rich cultural programme — the Professional Skills Programme is the better fit.

Will I receive a certificate?

Yes. Upon completing the program, you’ll receive a formal certificate recognising both your English course and your volunteer experience. This can be a valuable addition to your CV or university portfolio.
