Internships in England: Internship in Britain
Arrange your own internship or leave it to the experts. Your career starts here!
Internship in the UK — the choice is yours!
Do you have an internship period coming up, or are you looking for a professional placement? Have you thought about doing an internship in one of the European countries but haven’t made a decision?
Then you’re in the right place! IEC offers an internship program in the United Kingdom for students and recent graduates.
There are two program options:
First option: Self-Arranged, when the participant finds the internship placement themselves.
Requirements for the internship:
— Internship duration: 1 to 6 months (minimum 25 hours per week).
— Internships are not allowed in the following areas: hospitality, healthcare/medicine.
— The internship can be unpaid and must comply with UK rules for volunteering in a company. In most cases, if the employer doesn’t pay the intern, they offer perks to the intern, for example covering travel to work (https://www.gov.uk/volunteering).
— A specific internship program must be prepared for the participant, during which they will perform additional tasks from the employer that are not part of a regular employee’s daily duties.
— Duties during the internship should be varied and clearly explained to the participant. The participant must have a clear plan for the internship.
— The participant must have a supervisor who will coordinate their internship.
— The company must be registered with Companies House in the UK for at least one year.

Second option: Placed, when the program sponsor finds the internship placement.
The program sponsor arranges an unpaid internship lasting 1–6 months.
Popular fields offering internships: architecture, finance, law, IT, human resources, PR and advertising.
Internship placements cannot be offered in hospitality, education, medicine, or psychology.
