About the country I’m going to as part of the Volunteer in Brasil program

Brazil was discovered by the Portuguese Pedro Álvares Cabral on April 22, 1500. This first Don Pedro in Brazil’s history called the country he discovered the land Terra da Vera Cruz. At that time between 2 and 6 million indigenous people lived there. Now there are about 300 thousand of them. In the past decade the country has become one of the world’s leaders in terms of total GDP.
Brazil is like a mosaic: different cultures are woven into it, here you can see a bit of Europe, a bit of Africa, and a bit of Asia. And the country’s capital, Brasilia, built to the design of the outstanding architect Oscar Niemeyer, is unlike any other city in the world. From a bird’s-eye view, the main avenues and adjacent blocks form a shape resembling a jet passenger airplane.
By the way, did you know that:
Brazilians are perhaps one of the happiest nations in the world. Even if things are not going well, when asked “How are you?” people here usually answer that “Everything is great.”
Brazilians are very sociable and talk to each other about anything and everything.
At the mention of the word “Brazil” we almost automatically continue: “…where there are so many wild monkeys.” However, this is far from the case, and it is quite difficult to find monkeys here.
In the Amazon rainforest, 20 % of all the plant and bird species in the world live.

What are they writing?
